What's New with Technology?


It has been awhile since my last post, so I need to catch you up on what is going on with me and our Instuctional Technology Program.

New Activ Schools
The Department of Education has been procuring more of the Interactive Whiteboards to place in our schools. There are several new schools both in New Providence and some of the Family Islands who just received a whiteboard for this school year and we congratulate them for being proactive and we welcome them aboard.

Training Forums
We have had our first training forums this past January for our new schools. We have also had training sessions put on by District Trainers Mrs. Loreen Patrick, Ms. Sheniqua Curry and Mr. Ishmael Thomas. This Power house Team is certainly doing a tremendous job. We are scheduling more training courses for Activstudio, as well as the other instructional technology programs we have in place in our schools. It would be posted on this page.

Technology User Group Meetings
We would like to have at least 4 meetings during the school year instead of once a month. We have already had one last year so we have three more to go. Please check in with this page to learn about more information. There is a User Group Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February, 10 2009@ 4pm. Venue TBA.

Curriculum Resources
In short order, the Department of Education will be placing a link on the Ministry of Education official website,( http://www.bahamaseducation.com)for Curriculum Resources. We will posting any type of curriculum resources that would be helpful to the educators. We are looking for lesson plans, powerpointlessons, flipchart lessons,videos and or website links from you. If you are interested please submit to nrolle@bahamaseducation.com.We would like to keep this page current and updated as possible.

ActivStudio FlipChart Competition
The Flipchart Competition is scheduled for February 28, 2009. Please get to work on your lessons if you want to enter the competition. Rules and criteria will be sent out to your schools or emailed to you.

Personal Update
I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Instructional Design & Technology with the University of Malaysia and asking for your prayers. Those of you who have received an In-Service with pay and was able to just go to school, you are extremely blessed. However, I am feeling the first-hand effects of learning how to manage my family, job and school so I am asking you for your support. So, if I call on you, don't leave me hanging...

I pray that is this new school year has been an adventure and any or every challenges you faced or will face you will overcome.
